The right skip for the job

Not sure which size you need? Here is how customers across East Lancashire usually use each one. Tell us about your waste and we will recommend a size.

  • Boxes and household items ready to be cleared from a room

    Home clear-outs

Loft, garage and spare-room clear-outs, or bagged household waste after a tidy up. A 2 or 4 yard skip is usually plenty for lighter loads.

  • Garden green waste and an old shed ready for clearance

    Garden & shed clearances

Hedge cuttings, old sheds, fence panels and decking. Garden waste is bulky, so a 6 yard skip often suits larger jobs.

  • Interior strip out with rubble ready for removal

    Renovations & DIY

Kitchen and bathroom rip-outs, plaster, timber and general building waste. 2 and 4 yard skips can be filled with soil or hardcore. A maximum of 1 tonne of soil or hardcore is allowed in 6 and 8 yard skips.

Skip hire across East Lancashire, step by step

Hiring a skip should be simple. Send us your postcode, tell us roughly what is going in and where the skip can stand, and we will confirm the size, the price and a delivery date that works for you.

Our skip sizes and prices

Skip sizePriceBest suited to
2 Yard Skip£150Mini skip — approximately 20–30 bin bags
4 Yard Skip£210Midi skip — approximately 30–40 bin bags
6 Yard Skip£250Builder's skip — approximately 50–60 bin bags
8 Yard Skip£280Large builder's skip — approximately 60–80 bin bags

Bin-bag figures are approximate and depend on the type of waste and how carefully the skip is loaded. If you are between two sizes, describe the job to us and we will advise.

Delivery and placement

A skip on your own driveway does not usually need a council permit. On other private land, the landowner's permission is needed. We confirm placement and any permissions before booking. If the only space is on the road, a council permit is usually required — tell us when you enquire and we will talk you through it before anything is booked.

Please leave clear access for the lorry, keep the area free of parked cars, and load the skip level with the top so it can be transported safely.

What can and cannot go in

Everyday household, garden, timber and renovation waste is accepted. Electrical goods, mattresses and fridges/freezers are accepted. Prohibited items include asbestos, chemicals, paint, gas bottles and tyres. Plasterboard incurs an extra charge. Please tell us before booking so we can confirm the cost and handling requirements.

Skip hire questions

Anything else you need to know before booking a skip? Ask us when you request your price.

What skip sizes do you offer and what do they cost?

We offer four sizes: a 2 yard mini skip at £150 (approximately 20–30 bin bags), a 4 yard midi skip at £210 (approximately 30–40 bin bags), a 6 yard builder's skip at £250 (approximately 50–60 bin bags) and an 8 yard large builder's skip at £280 (approximately 60–80 bin bags). Bin-bag figures are approximate and depend on the waste and how the skip is loaded.

Which areas do you deliver skips to?

Our skip hire covers Hyndburn, Pendle, Rossendale, Blackburn with Darwen and Ribble Valley. Send us your postcode and we will confirm availability for your address.

How long can I keep the skip?

Up to 14 days' hire is included. If you need longer, extra days are £5 per day thereafter, and collection can be requested earlier, subject to availability. We will confirm the arrangement in writing before delivery.

Do I need a permit for my skip?

If the skip stands on your own driveway, a council permit is not usually needed; on other private land you will need the landowner's permission. We confirm placement and any permissions before booking. If it has to go on the road, the council normally requires a permit, which costs £42 extra. Tell us where you would like the skip and we will explain what is needed before anything is booked.

What cannot go in a skip?

Prohibited items include asbestos, chemicals, paint, gas bottles and tyres. Electrical goods, mattresses and fridges/freezers are accepted. Plasterboard incurs an extra charge. Please tell us before booking so we can confirm the cost and handling requirements. Mention anything you are unsure about when you enquire and we will confirm the correct handling before booking.
